Celtic Collection Vol. 1
|
A collection of 8 Celtic pieces compiled from various sources into one downloadable PDF songbook. Also includes MP3 files. "My love for Celtic music goes back almost as far as my first steps with the guitar which I learnt on my own in the early seventies, after 4 years of classical piano. I was listening to CSN&Y, Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, John Renbourn, Bert Jansch, Steeleye Span, Martin Carthy, Doc Watson, Rev. Gary Davis, lots of Bluegrass... and exploring other ways to tune the guitar. I found DADGAD around 1973 from a different pathway that equally led British legend Davey Graham to that same tuning. At 17, I recorded my first album Près de Paris — that won the Grand Prix du Disque, Rose d’Or at the Montreux Festival in Switzerland — to be soon followed by PB 2 (1977) and Musiques (1979). The content of this first Celtic Collection is extracted from these 3 early albums. Thank you to some of my mentors Alan Stivell, Planxty, Michael O’ Sullivan & The Irish piper Seamus Ennis." - Pierre Bensusan
